I am having difficulty understanding this...
In one configuration flag, it uses system's multibyte <-> Widechar
converters.

If you meant CT <-> MB/WC, there is an risk on the existance of such
iconv modules depending on the platform.

Anyway, it is worth finding out what the problems are.
